Flame Distribution to handle global sales for David Attenborough series

Sydney-headquartered Flame Distribution has been appointed the global distributor for the three-part natural history docuseries Life in Colour with David Attenborough, in partnership with Humble Bee Films and SeaLight Pictures.

The series (pictured) is co-produced by Bristol-based Humble Bee Films and Sydney-based SeaLight Pictures for the BBC, Netflix, Channel 9 and Stan.

It will see Attenborough on location from the rainforests of Costa Rica to the snowy Scottish Highlands to reveal the extraordinary ways that animals use colour.

Flame Distribution will handle worldwide distribution of the series outside of the UK.

Life in Colour with David Attenborough is executive produced by Stephen Dunleavy (Humble Bee Films) and Colette Beaudry (SeaLight Pictures).

The docuseries is made for the BBC (commissioned by Patrick Holland, BBC2 controller, and Tom McDonald, BBC head of commissioning, Natural History and Specialist Factual), Netflix, Channel 9 and Stan (Australia).

ZDF Enterprises takes global rights to Our Continents

Germany-based ZDF Enterprises has secured the global distribution rights for a new six-part series, Our Continents (6 x 50 minutes) from prodco Story House Media Group.

The landmark blue-chip production will begin filming in the middle of 2021 and deliver in early 2023.

Each episode will focus on one continent, beginning the story from its birth, connecting history, science and culture.

Cineflix Rights sells The Day Will and Kate Got Married

UK distributor Cineflix Rights has signed multiple pre-sale deals with Nordic and Eastern European broadcasters for its recently acquired ITV documentary The Day Will and Kate Got Married.

The 60-minute film from Finestripe Productions marks the 10th wedding anniversary of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, featuring interviews with family members and the creatives who made it happen

The documentary has been pre-sold to TV4 (Sweden), YLE (Finland), TV2 (Denmark), NRK (Norway), and BBC Poland with further deals currently in negotiation.

Quintus Studios inks factual deals

Quintus Studios, based in Berlin, has acquired several factual titles for its on-demand documentary channels Free Documentary, FD Real and ENDEVR.

Locking in a deal with UK based independent distributor DCD Rights, Quintus Studios has acquired Sky High Scrapers (5 x 60 minutes; produced by Electric Sky) for its Free Documentary and FD Real channels.

Through a deal brokered with Beyond Rights, Quintus Studios has added Mountain Rescue (6 x 60 minutes) and Airshow (12 x 60 minutes) to FD Real.

Mountain Rescue, produced by Candela, is a co-production with Helion Pictures, Discovery Channel France and RMC Découverte France; while Airshow is produced by Great Pacific Media for Discovery Canada.

Quintus Studios has also acquired 97% Owned (1 x 130 minutes), directed by Michael Oswald, for its Free Documentary and ENDEVR channels from documentary and factual sales agency Sideways Film.
